50th International CACIB Show - July 24th & 25th

L'exposition de Liège
représente un évènement très important pour le Domaine d'Haïsha. En effet,
c'est l'exposition CACIB la plus proche de nous, nous sommes membres (seulement
membres) du Syndicat d'Elevage Canin de Liège, le Club organisateur, et le
Golden Dog Trophy est sans conteste (d'autres que moi vous le diront) la plus
belle exposition de Wallonie ...
De plus, cette année,
l'exposition fêtait son 50ème anniversaire. Pour marquer ce demi-siècle,
d'autres activités étaient organisées, telles une exposition de Bandes Dessinées
ayant pour thème "Le Chien dans la BD" et un concours international de
toilettage, le "Golden Groomer" (une première en Wallonie ! et j'espère pas une
dernière !). Tout cela ajouté aux démonstrations et concours habituels (à
titre d'exemples : les démonstrations de Dog Dancing, ou le "Golden Lead",
compétition Internationale de Handling, ...).
Tout cela représente une
organisation et des efforts considérables, et notre famille s'investit
énormément pour aider au mieux à la réussite de cet évènement. A nos yeux,
le Golden Dog Trophy est chaque année "une grande fête" !
Cette année, nous avions
inscrit 10 chiens, et en avons préparé 16 au total. Dany et Nicolas ont
participé au montage (et au démontage) une bonne partie des jours précédant et
suivant l'expo, avec la poignée de "volontaires bénévoles", que ceux-ci soient
occasionnels (beaucoup ne viennent qu'une année) ou "acharnés habituels", de
ceux à qui cela tient tellement à coeur ... Cela sans compter la
préparation et le montage de notre petit stand commercial le vendredi.
Le samedi 24 était "le jour des
cockers" et notre "équipe chiens et humains" était très importante cette année,
et nous en sommes très fiers :
Les "4 pattes" : Lahja (notre
Irish Water Spaniel), Lulu (notre Cocker américain), Soraya (notre championne
des rings et de coeur, et maintenant notre vétéran), Xéryus & Billy (nos deux
champions), Léna, Katia, Tyna (notre "team" du moment), Cassandra et Cobby
(cédées à des particuliers), et James ("Forman's Secret Center"), un bel
américain blond de passage en Belgique pour l'occasion.
Les "2 pattes" : les 5
Hanson's, Mélanie (notre stagiaire pour quelques jours et handler de James),
Marie, Xavier, Thibaud & Stéphanie (la famille de Cassandra) et Natacha (la
"maman" de Cobby) ... Sans compter le soutien de Mme Chevalier (la "maman"
de Danaé), Frédéric & Carine Denis (futurs propriétaires de Dali), et Ilia &
Dessi (futurs propriétaires de Djuseppe), venus assister aux jugements ...
Et
nous avons eu la visite surprise d'Helena et sa famille ! Helena est
l'éleveuse de Lahja ...
Cela nous a fait tellement plaisir d'avoir ces visiteurs finlandais, d'autant
plus qu'Helena a repréparé Lahja pour la finale du groupe, avec tout le
savoir-faire de l'experte qu'elle est dans cette race.
Au niveau du nombre
d'inscriptions, seulement 17 Cockers anglais et quand même 21 américains.
Il est dommage de ne pas avoir eu une plus grande participation en Cockers
anglais, certains ratent là une super expo et une excellente ambiance.
Au niveau nombre de visiteurs,
un petit bémol aussi ...Évidemment, au vu de la météo du début de l'été, il est
sûrement normal que les éventuels visiteurs aient préféré des destinations plus
estivales, comme les parcs d'attraction ou un week-end à la mer ...

Petite parenthèse : Le meilleur jeune en
cocker anglais n'était autre que "Weeping Willow's Umourette", une fille de
Xéryus et de "Weeping Willow's Omour".
Cockers américains :
Forman's United Color (Lulu) en classe jeunes :
1er Exc - Meilleure Jeune Femelle
Forman's Secret Center (James) en classe ouverte :
4ème Excellent.
Irish Water Spaniel : Lahja, une fois de
plus seul sujet de sa race, a fait 1er Excellent - CAC - CACIB - Meilleur de
Race, et a été retenue dans les 6 meilleurs du Groupe sur le ring d'honneur.
Le dimanche avait lieu le concours de toilettage
pour les catégories "Epilation" et "Spaniels et Setters". Carol s'y était
inscrite en classe "Débutants" (car premier concours de toilettage pour elle)
avec "Y'Cheyenne" (plus connue sous le nom de "Bibou"). A l'origine avec
"Lola", mais celle-ci a décidé d'enfin, après 2 ans, commencer ses premières
chaleurs, 3 jours avant l'expo. Inconvénients : Bibou est golden, la
couleur la plus difficile à toiletter car on voit tous les coups de ciseaux,
elle avait plus de poils que prévu (2 mois de repousse sont nécessaires, et elle
en avait un peu plus de 3), et en plus elle accusait quelques kilos de trop ;-)
Néanmoins, elle s'est très bien comportée, malgré la chaleur et la durée du
travail, ce qui a grandement facilité la tâche à Carol, et lui a permis de
remporter la classe débutants de la catégorie "Spaniels et Setters" ...
Les juges étaient Mr Pichard (Suisse) et Mr
Lehmann (Italie).

ramené toute notre marchandise à bon port le dimanche soir, ce qui nous a
épargné bien des trajets et de la manutention.
Et une fois de plus à toute notre "équipe" pour
leur présence (Marie, Xavier, Thibaud & Stéphanie, Natacha, Mme Chevalier, Ilia
& Dessi, Carine & Frédéric).
Et enfin, "last but not least", à nos toutous de
nous donner autant de bonheur et de satisfactions, ce qui nous a aussi permis de
rencontrer des personnes exceptionnelles avec qui nous avons maintenant de
grands liens d'amitié.
Liège Dog Show represents a
very important event for the Domaine d'Haïsha. Indeed, it's the nearest
CACIB Show for us, we are members (only members) of the Syndicat d'Elevage Canin
de Liège, the organising club, and the Golden Dog Trophy is without any doubt (other
people than me could tell it), the greatest show in the South part (French
speaking part) of the country...
Moreover, this year, the show
was celebrating his 50th birthday. To mark this half-century, other
activities were organised, such as a Comic strip show, having for topic "The dog
in the Comics" and an International Grooming Contest, the "Golden Groomer" (for
the first time in Wallonia ! And I hope not the last one !). All that was
added to the usual demonstrations and contests (for examples : the Dog Dancing
demonstrations, or the "Golden Lead", an International Show Handling Contest,
...).
All that represents a huge
organisation and big efforts, and our family invests herself a lot to help as
well as possible for the success of this event. For us, the Golden Dog
Trophy is each year "a big celebration" !
This year, we entered 10 dogs,
and prepared 16 in all. Dany and Nicolas took part to the "assembling" (and
to the disassembling) a large part of the days before and after the show, with a
few volunteers, occasionnal (many people come only for one year) or usual, those
who take that very seriously each year and couldn't "miss that"... All
that without counting the preparation and the assembling of our little
commercial stand the Friday.
The Saturday 24th was "the
Cockers day" and our team "dogs and humans" was very big this year, and we are
very proud of that fact :
The "4 legged" : Lahja (our
Irish Water Spaniel), Lulu (our American Cocker) , Soraya (our show ring and
heart champion, and now our veteran), Xéryus & Billy (our two champions), Léna,
Katia, Tyna (our present team), Cassandra and Cobby (owned by privates people),
and James ("Forman's Secret Center"), a nice blond American Cocker in Belgium
for a few days for that event).
The "2 legged" : the 5
Hanson's, Mélanie (our trainee for a few days, and also James handler), Marie,
Xavier, Thibaud & Stéphanie (Cassandra's family) and Natacha (Cobby's "mother")
... Without counting the siupport of Mrs Chevalier (Danaé's mother),
Frédéric and Carine Denis (Dali's future owners) and Ilia & Dessi (Djuseppe's
future owners), who came to see the judgements ...
And we had the "surprise visit"
of Helena and her family. Helena is Lahja's breeder ... We were so
pleased to have these Finnish visitors, moreover that Helena gave to Lahja the
"final touch" of trimming before the judgement of the group, with all the expert
know-how that she has in that breed.
About entries number, only 17
English Cockers and nevertheless 21 American Cockers. It's a pity to not
have a bigger participation in English Cockers, some people are missing a great
show with an excellent atmosphere.
About visitors amount, that's a
negative point too ... Obviously, when we think about the weather we had
at the beginning of this summer, it's surely normal if people preferred more
estival destinations, like theme parks or weekend at the seaside ...

Remark : The Best Young in English Cocker
was "Weeping Willow's Umourette", who is a Xeryus daughter (her mother is "Weeping
Willow's Omour).
American Cockers :

Exc - Best Young Bitch.
Forman's Secret Center (James) in Open Class : 4th
Excellent.
Irish Water Spaniel : Lahja, once more the
only one in her breed, was 1st Excellent - CAC - CACIB - Best Of Breed, and was
chosen in the 6 Best of the Group 8 in the main ring.
The Sunday 25th was the day of the grooming
contest for the Handstripping" and "Spaniels and Setters" categories.
Carol was entered in the "Beginners" class (because it was her first contest),
with Y'Cheyenne (who is better known as "Bibou"). At the beginning it
would have to be with "Lola", but Lola decided, after 2 years, to finally start
her first heat, 3 days before the show. Disadvantages : Bibou is golden,
the most difficult colour to trim because one can see all the scissors markings
on the coat, she had much more coat than needed (more than 3 months instead of 2
months minimum needed) and moreover she had a few kilos too much ;-)
Nevertheless, she behaved very well, in spite of the heat and the length of the
work, and that greatly facilitate the task for Carol, and permitted her to win
the Beginners class in the "Spaniels and Setters" categorie...
Judges were Mr Pichard (Switzerland) and Mr
Lehmann (Italy).

And, last but not least, thank to our dogs to give
us so much happiness and satisfactions, that permitted us also to meet
exceptional people and so great friendships ...
